Las Vegas Act and America’s Got Talent Winner Comes To The Erie County Fair

The Erie County Fair is proud to present Terry Fator on the Grandstand, August 16 at 8PM, winner of the 2007 America’s Got Talent. Simon Cowell stated Fator is one of the top two entertainers on the planet. Fator does over 100 ventriloquist impersonations and has 16 different puppets.

Fator is the headliner for the Mirage in Las Vegas. He rarely performs outside of Las Vegas.

Fator has been the opening act for stars like Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Neal McCoy and Styx.  He also has appeared on Oprah, Ellen and David Letterman.

Erie County Fair Hosting 5K With Proceeds to Benefit Special Olympics

The Erie County Fair will bring back the annual 5K on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 9am at The Fairgrounds in Hamburg, NY.  The certified course is a 3.1 mile (sanctioned and previously certified) that begins at The Fairgrounds and takes a route through the Town and Village of Hamburg and returns back to finish on the track of The Fairgrounds.

Pre-registration cost is $20 and $25 on the day of the race which includes admission into the Fair, post race party and more.  Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners in each of 12 categories and for overall male and female finishes.  You can register online here or download an application here.  Registration on the day of the event begins at 7:30am, but pre-registration is encouraged.

All ages are welcome to participate in the 5K, but no pets, skateboards, rollerblades or bicycles are allowed on the course.  Water stations will be provided.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics of New York, an organization that is dedicated to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community. Through their participation in Special Olympics New York athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image, which carries into the classroom, the home, the workplace and the community.

America to perform a free concert at the Erie County Fair

Just announced, America will perform a free concert at the Erie County Fair on August 15th sponsored by Hamburg Casino.

America is  a Grammy Award winner for New Musical Artist in 1972 and is best known for songs “A Horse With No Name,” “Sisters Golden Hair” and other songs include “Venture Highway”, “Tin Man”, “Daisy Jane”, and “Lonely People”.  An English-American folk rock band composed originally of members Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek that became a musical sensation while still in their teens in 1972, scoring #1 hits and winning a Grammy for best new musical artist.  Even with Dan Peek quitting the group in 1977, Buckley and Bunnell returned America to the top 10 as a duo with “You Can Do Magic” in 1982.

Back in January of 2007, the band released Here & Now, the band’s first major label studio album in over twenty years.
