HAMBURG, NEW YORK – The Erie County Fair and Strates Shows continue to build on their exclusive relationship, now in its 96th year. Strates Shows is offering Weekday One Price Ride Days (Monday through Friday) at the Erie County Fair. The cost is $30 per wristband. There will also be FUN Cards available that you can load and reload credits on throughout the Fair. Both of these options are available online at www.ECFair.org and you can buy them on the Midway during the Erie County Fair as well.
For generations, the annual arrival of the James E. Strates Shows train has been a highly anticipated event for fairgoers and enthusiasts of Americana. This past year’s pandemic has had a significant impact on many long-time family traditions – and the Strates Show arrival by train can be added to that list. In 2021, the rides and equipment coming to the Erie County Fair will be transported to the fairgrounds by trucks, not via train. Over the decades, the logistics involved in moving Strates Shows’ employees and equipment has developed into a precise science and by the time approval was received allowing the Erie County Fair to hold the fair, it was too late to coordinate train scheduling and routing.
The exclusive relationship between the Erie County Fair and the Strates Shows is considered a historical milestone in the modern amusement industry. The relationship between the Strates Shows and the Erie County Fair is the longest continuous run of any carnival midway in the United States.
